Rescue News : Rehome news
Posted by Anna on 2010/6/8 21:32:15 (424 reads)

This is an appeal for helpers, foster carers and supporters across the UK. The British Cane Corso Society are now operating at capacity and need your help.

From transporting to overnight care, from donations of feed and equipment, through to a couple of hours a week helping walk the dogs, we're at the point now where we can only get bigger, and hopefully better!

There will be more news over the next few weeks on induvidual dogs, but I'm currently in a fury after visitng Battersea and being faced with Cherri. To find out why this 5 year old girl weighs less than a puppy, and had been left with double cherry eye, please register here at the FOCC and join our rescue forum.

Every voice counts.

Corso Shop : Can you spare an hour a week?
Posted by Anna on 2010/4/27 21:03:52 (307 reads)

The BCCS are slightly tearful (in gratitude) to annouce their new kennel facility will be held at Large Breed Dog Rescue in Kent.

The facility will mean we can move more dogs, more quickly to a place that undertands their needs and away from shelters who have a destruct order on guarding breeds.

This facility was paid for by an amazing Corso owner, through the medium of our own Jo Lueck, whose heart, generosity and spirit never cease to stop me in my tracks.

The thing needed to make this work is volonteers in the Kent area. These dogs don't walk and feed themselves and an hour of time donated means the staff at LBDR can make vet runs and such, knowing that the dogs are in good hands.

We need WEEKDAY people. Mums, retired people or students wanting to add to their CV, the unemployed and the ladies who lunch! If you can spare an hour in the Kent area, we want you!

Rescue News : BCCS 2009 Re-home Report
Posted by Jo Lueck on 2010/3/17 14:00:00 (381 reads)

2009 was a busy old year for the BCCS Rehome team, with the Corso becoming more and more popular in the UK the numbers turning up in shelters across the country are increasing at an astonishing rate.

As a society, we don’t just want to pick up the pieces when things go wrong, so the BCCS has developed an affirmative action plan, including new breeder packs sent out with advice and information to small UK breeders, a rescue pack sent out to shelters all over the UK to help and assist with identifying and placing Corsos in Forever homes and a volunteer behavioral team to try and help owners before rehoming has to become an option. The amount of time and dedication given by members of the Friends of Cane Corso has been phenomenal and we’d like to thank you all on behalf of those without a voice.

Now, onto the dogs of 2009…
