Just Over One year On

Author: gobstopper (7:02 pm)

Hi everyone, sorry we've been away for so long. We've had a weird old year that I won't bore you with.
So, Sophie! She has more nicknames, Miss velvet Chops and has moved on from being Kate Moss to Slinky Belinky, she likes being called Sophia (probably the Italian genes) and quite suitably answers to Phia (Fear).

She's much better with traffic but we never met our goal of taking her to town. Daryl's dog walking and he has become known locally as the new Cesar Milan so the walking business has really taken the dogs away from lead walking, they race to the van and get let out in the vast countryside that surrounds us. Sophie pack walks everyday and is super with other dogs. She still has the odd rumble with George so supervision from the heavy mob is always at hand when they play as it can escalate and Sophie can become relentless. (a mix of still speaking in different tongues and a sibling type rivalry, however she shows no jealousy of him)

She LOVES to run, I'm sure she is half Lurcher, she gives running dogs a good run for their money trying to catch her. She's like some well oiled machine when she runs, pure power! it was wonderful when the corn was in the fields to watch her slinking between the rows and bouncing, showing her head every now and again, her latest is running and rolling in cool grass. All this countryside and fun, why do I want to take her town anyway. On a walk she'll jump high fences to circle strangers except if they have a dog (people with dogs are obviously better characters).

She's a little less flighty if she's on a lead near strangers but has NO interest in them at all, which to most men is a shame as they are really taken by her and stare mesmorised and say she's an amazing looking dog (Tart). She's getting used to people coming to the house but her hard wiring promotes her guarding and she'll bark at them, it takes her a long time to accept some as extended family, her family preference and loyalty is strong.
She's a beautiful big girl who is loved very much, especially by Daddy!

She's one contented, heavy bean bag laying on you most evenings.
Below are a few shots, although she's put on 5Kgs she's grown taller and still looks a lean variety but the vet thinks she's text book and loves studying her muscle groups (pervert). She's at the vet with Daryl right now as we have a sliced paw saga, Miss Phia believes she should have no dressing on after stitches surgery and currently is on long lead walks, thankfully all the vet desensitisation has paid off and she's a good girl in the vet, no scaredy tail.
